“At Your Uprising” – Hymn for Easter

This Easter/Eastertide Hymn subtly uses “uprising” in two different ways, indicating that Christ’s resurrection (up-rising) caused an uprising among his followers; in the final stanza, we commit to join the uprising… in both ways!

“At Your Uprising” has 3 stanzas and is set to the familiar MIT FREUDEN ZART tune. The full hymn is set in D and Eb (for modulation); the congregational setting is in D.

At your uprising, Jesus Christ,
We greet this day with praises.
Your bursting forth from death’s cold tomb
Astounds us and amazes.
Alleluia! Alleluia!
The faithful lift one voice to sing,
O Christ at your uprising.

With joyful hearts we greet you here,
Proclaiming resurrection.
Uprising from the grave you came,
An act of God’s affection.
Alleluia! Alleluia!
We bow before our loving King,
O Christ at your uprising.

We follow you, O living One,
To join in your uprising.
We take the challenge standing firm
with faith uncompromising.
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Our best of selves to you we bring,
O Christ at your uprising.
